The idea for this work evolved during its creation. I had already decided that I wanted to develop my trees by adding another element. Birds felt like the natural choice somehow. Each bird seemed to take on a character of its own which made me think about all the 'birds' I know and admire. I've never really liked the use of the term 'bird' to represent 'us' females so I use it with some irony in this context! This collection of work became a celebration of the female.
